14 years ago, on this day Russian space station Mir docked with space shuttle Atlantis for the very first time, paving way for a new level of US - Russian ties to emerge and flourish! Though some acrid memories of the cold war faintly remained, both nations took a significant step to partner with each other aimed to achieve significant results in the areas of life-sciences, filming with IMAX camera, vital logistical resupply of the Mir, recovery of US astronaut Norman E. Thagard and Shuttle Amateur Radio Experiments (SAREX-II), among other things!
Look at what cooperation can do!
Perhaps, a lot of people, corporate establishments and nations too need to learn a few lessons from such strategic partnerships, which during such turbulent economic times can prove vital to one another in the areas of research, people management, cost control and more importantly augmentation of humanitarian efforts!
The way ahead into the emerging world scenario will be built upon the fundamentals of collaboration aimed at establishing symbiotic relationships be it in furthering research, combating disease, feeding the hungry, cultivating wastelands, fighting terror or in exploring the existence of life forms beyond the Earth.
Partnership is not a bad word! On the contrary it makes way for superior intellect, fresh drive, accelerated purpose and strong pursuit of clearly defined goals.
And as Dante Alighieri so thoughtfully asked "Of my sowing such straw I reap. O human folk, why set the heart there where exclusion of partnership is necessary?", why forsake an option that might be the gateway itself?
This shows anything could possible with partnership. It is also just like sharing, by that we not alone gain many things, but also get chances to be obvious. Thanks for your info and thoughts :)
ReplyDeleteThats indeed a nice thought. But often, its the ulterior motive that breaks the partnerships. There are a lot of projects that were initiated between nations, but most of them still remain shelved just because as they progressed, differences arose in their final objective. But as you said, it will be great to see a few nations enter an agreement in the present scenario !
ReplyDeletePartnership, Sharing, Togetherness, Teamwork, they all spell one thing...SUCCESS.
ReplyDeleteAnd why? If we can do something TOGETHER, then we know how to trust one another and contribute our combined efforts to a greater cause. We all hv individual abilities and those need to be 'combined' to achieve goals.
Keshi.
u are right Rakesh working together can make a world of difference. Only thing that stands between is ego.
ReplyDeleteBtw your blog template is sooooooo gooood . i like it very much
Partnership has helped in progress...but perhaps things do not work so well with it, today its bound by law...making things difficult for the parties themselves,
ReplyDeleteIt is a reality, having said that...its always good to share and cooperate in a world of diminishing resources,
Nice thought for the day...but look around, you will always see negative forces are at work before beneficial partnerships evolve,

m pretty sure SBi dsnt say that abt its co-operation wid GE
ReplyDeleteThat is the way to go forward. But it will work only if both the partners are equal owners and there is mutual respect and trust is there between them.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise it is downward.
Yea ....even during day before university exams we used a Technic of partner-ship learning. Each one was assigned certain portions of the syllabus ..at the end one shared his topic with others.Almost like brainstorming...eh..and believe me it worked brilliantly..and with less effort we scored more marks..lol..!
ReplyDeleteIt is true. Someone might discover something which could be useful for someone else in another region or in another field. By not allowing co-operation, both of them lose out! And there is no need to re-learn the whole process, that too individually like how we were earlier doing.

very deep message...wow..and thanks buddy for your encouragment.
ReplyDeleteThe collaboration for the MIR project, and also the development of the ISS, where some of the highlights of the post cold-war era. Sadly these kind of path breaking efforts have not been repeated. Politics and strategic interests have received priority over attempts to use technology for the good of all humanity. I hope people will realize the follies their govt's are making and push policy makers to take international partnerships to a higher level.
ReplyDeletegr8 post, mate. u made me nostalgic with that description of MIR. i was cursing myself for missing its journey back to earth(or should i term the journey as collapse?)

ReplyDeleteYes, partnerships are a cumbersome process today governed by many legal procedures and policies aimed at helping parties involved, but often proving to be long drawn and bound by red tape.
