Human Rights Watch

Ideally, today should have been a celebration of the human existence, epitomizing the values of togetherness, freedom, justice and a lot lot more. But Human Rights Day is a crude reminder of the despicable atrocities we commit against our own kind.

Societies and groups are becoming dangerously exclusive, often founded and furthered on religious and caste based ideologies rather than intellectual pursuits of mutual interests! Besides, warring factions in many nations threaten the basics of livelihood, particularly in countries such as Sudan, Pakistan and Afghanistan, to name a few, that is!

It's certainly not about attaining technological and financial prowess in parts when other parts of the world are immersed in turmoil and terror.

The question remains........ where are we headed? Or, are we headed forward at all?

  1. Rakesh, are we ready to look at our own double standards?

You don't have to be on the International Court of Justice to understand that we, even the we who think we do no harm to another, more often than not disregard the rights of an other!

well not to talk of violations at national or international right....sometimes standing up for individual rights itself become a violation of human right --- many cases in context, but the first that shook my conscious was the case of our old filmstar Saritha's first marriage to a Telugu director....we had it as a case study in Marriage Law!

The nutshell is Human Rights violations have been there, it will be there....So will the Commissions be....While they hit the roads, we many celebrate our own individual lives individually!

anyway, nice to have this reminder....I had forgotten, and not seen the paper yet! :)

  3. human rights are ethics framed to keep human beings as human beings! but not all human are same. the problem is everyone has a brain and it thinks distinctly!
one can achieve smooth world by hypnotising the rest of the world to his orders!and it itself will be human rights violation.
Else ppl will be eating each other for food, money and place!

  7. Well rakesh first of all really nice topic highlighted...

Human right activists are never heard too...people don't really have the time to hear and help them in making this a better place to live...but yes we as people are ready to pass comments when they do something..i guess that primilarily the reason why we are at this place

  10. Hi Rakesh! Hopefully we'll be heading forward, but it isn't granted; need to fight for it every day...

  11. I understand the ansgt in the msg. But i think we're moving ahead in the right direction. take india... in the last century caste was the very heart of all social classification in india. now it's changed... it's money and status... not caste. things change... albeit slowly. we need to have patience.
